New book on policy dialogues to forge a new social contract for education in Latin America

Reimers Dialogos

Professor Fernando M. Reimers, a member of the International Commission on the Futures of Education, has released a new book presenting examples of how UNESCO’s report Reimagining our futures together: A new social contract for education is being used by Ministers of education, higher education leaders, and leaders of civil society organizations in Spain, Portugal, and in various Latin American countries including Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, México, and Uruguay.

Entitled Diálogos por un Nuevo Contrato Social para la Educación, this Spanish-language book aims to share early practices in adopting UNESCO’s Futures of Education report and puts forward how educational policymakers and leaders are finding inspiration in the report to translate its vision and forward-looking ideas into innovative practices and context-specific policy recommendations. The book makes visible the result and lessons learned from inclusive policy dialogues that have engaged various stakeholders in reflections about education transformation at the country-level. Perspectives from government, regional organizations, universities, educational networks, and civil society organizations were brought together to re-think and co-construct education systems able to shape more equitable and sustainable societies.

The Reimagining our futures together report intends precisely to stimulate collective intelligence and provoke this type of broad social dialogue within countries and across various stakeholders to forge together a new social contract for education.

The book is also available in Kindle and paperback formats.
