Sustainable Development: A Pacific Islands Perspective

Among ongoing work to promote approaches to sustainable development in the Pacific is a joint initiative of the Pacific Centre for Sustainable Development (PACE-SD) at the University of the South Pacific and the UNESCO Office for the Pacific States in Apia. The project includes elaboration and refinement of an in-depth study on 'Sustainable Development: A Pacific Islands Perspective'.

Components include an outline of Pacific perceptions of sustainable development at local, national and regional levels, an overview of ongoing activities and Pacific island responses to sustainable development at all levels, and an assessment of UNESCO's potential role in addressing these challenges.
