More than 70 years after the rights to education and health was enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, many girls and women still do not enjoy it. Poverty, early marriage, gender-based violence, and poor sexual and reproductive health are just some of the reasons for the high percentage of illiteracy, disability and mortality among girls and women in developing countries.
Mali, with the continued support of its technical and financial partners, makes the education, health, and well-being of adolescent girls and young women a national priority in its national policies, programmes and plans, both in the education and vocational training sector and in the health and public health sector.
Initiated in 2016, the project "Empowerment of adolescent girls and young women through education in Mali" is an integral part of the Joint UNESCO-UNFPA-United Nations Global Programme for Women and is funded by the Republic of Korea to the amount of US$ 5 million. (More than 2.5 billion CFA francs), through its International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It is being implemented in 3 regions of Mali (Segou, Mopti, and Timbuktu) and in the District of Bamako for a period of 5 years (2016-2020).
I would like to finish my studies and get a goog job to earn a decent living. My dream is to become a midwife and help other women. Thank you to the KOICA-Mali project which allowed me to continue my schooling.

Objectives
1. Improving the quality of basic education

This project directly responds to the objectives of the Sustainable Development Agenda for 2030, namely quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation for all, reducing inequalities and partnerships. It also supports the implementation of national development plans and strategies.
