Following the ambitious capacity-building strategy adopted within the framework of the sub-regional Action Plans for World Heritage, the Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas, a Category 2 Centre under the auspices of UNESCO, will organize a workshop aimed at improving the States Parties’ use of the Tentative Lists at the national and regional level. It will take place in Havana, Cuba, from 5 to 7 November 2019.

The workshop will be held in close cooperation with the World Heritage Centre, UNESCO Havana Office, and the National Council of Cultural Heritage of Cuba, with the participation of the Advisory Bodies.

This workshop has been developed to address the insufficient use of the Tentative Lists as an instrument for national and regional planning to manage cultural and natural heritage. National Focal Points for cultural and natural heritage from the States Parties in the two sub-regions are expected to participate in the three-day capacity-building workshop to define an effective approach to update their national Tentative Lists, in line with the Operational Guidelines, and taking into account the  potentials for World Heritage in the two sub-regions.
