The Arab region hosts 88 sites that are listed on UNESCO list of sites with significant cultural value, along with 53 cultural elements on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. In its most recent session (12-18 December, 2021), the international committee for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage approved the inscription of six new cultural and artistic expression forms from the Arab Region on the list. These include Falconry, Arabic Calligraphy, Fijri performance, Palestinian Embroidery, Alleppo Kodood, and Tborideh performance. It is noteworthy that most of these cultural and artistic expression forms, were jointly nominated, which reflects both the diversity and connectedness of Arabic cultural heritage.
