Tamar Janashia

Tamar Janashia is an arts manager and consultant with over 18 years of experience in culture. She is the founder and executive director of the NGO Culture and Management Lab that was established in 2010 and is active in arts management, cultural exchange, cultural policy and strategic development of creative industries in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. In 2012-2017, she worked as general administrator of the Regional Art and Culture Programme in the South Caucasus for the Swiss Cooperation Office. In parallel, she led a project on cultural policy development and management strategies for the preservation and maintenance of intangible cultural heritage and the elaboration of relevant legislation for the National Agency of Monument Protection. As a freelance business consultant, she provides services to various local and international organizations, academic institutions and private companies in general management, project management and development. Since 2019, she serves as a project coordinator for the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial. In 2018-2019, she worked as executive director of the contemporary culture festival SOU and was invited by the Goethe Institute in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to train cultural managers from Central Asia. She holds an MBA from the University of Maine, Orono, and a bachelor’s degree in classical philology from Tbilisi State University.
