UNESCO is grateful to the many Development Partners whose contributions have made a positive impact in supporting freedom of expression worldwide.


Canal France International

CFI implents the French policy of development aid in favor of Southern media for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. It provides assistance to public or private players in the media sector with a view to reinforcing the modernisation and democratisation process supported by France.


DANIDA

Danida is the term used for Denmark’s development cooperation, which is an area of activity under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Denmark’s development policy aims to combat poverty through promotion of human rights and economic growth.


European Union

The primary objective of the European Union’s development policy is the eradication of poverty in the context of sustainable development. EU partnerships with developing countries to promote respect for human rights, peace, democracy, good governance, gender equality, the rule of law and justice.


Guillermo Cano Isaza Foundation

The Guillermo Cano Isaza Foundation was created in 1996 on the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Colombian journalist Guillermo Cano Isaza. It works for the defense and promotion of press freedom in the world, through recognizing journalists and supporting those who are threatened.


Helsingin Sanomat Foundation

The Foundation promotes and supports high-level research on freedom of expression. It carries out its mission by awarding grants and fellowships and by maintaining the Päivälehti Museum and the Päivälehti Archives.


Japanese Official Development Assistance

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan has contributed to supporting UNESCO since 2005 via the Japanese Funds-in-Trust (JFIT). JFIT serves to strengthen UNESCO activities in the field of education for sustainable development.


Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)

KOICA implements Korea’s grant aid and technical cooperation programs. It focuses on promoting sustainable development, strengthening partnerships with developing partners, and enhancing the local ownership of beneficiaries.


Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Norway’s foreign and development policy is designed to promote economic development, democratisation, implementation of human rights, good governance and measures that can lift people out of poverty for good.


Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC)

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organization which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.


Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland

Finland supports developing countries' own development efforts by means of both political advocacy and financing. Durable results can be attained only through development that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. This calls for coherence in the cooperation between the different policy sectors influencing the development.


Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands

The Dutch government wants to promote sustainable economic growth in developing countries. And it wants to work towards global stability and security and to foster human rights.


Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)

AECID is the central organisation that manages Spanish Cooperation, dedicated to the fight against poverty and to sustainable human development. It is attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.


Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)

Sida is a government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world and to implement the Swedish development policy.


United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities by developing policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities and institutional capabilities, and building resilience.


United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF)

PBF was launched in 2006 to support activities, actions, programmes and organizations that seek to build a lasting peace in countries emerging from conflict. It supports peacebuilding activities that strengthen the capacity of governments, national/local institutions and transitional or other relevant authorities.
