During its 201^st session, the Executive Board embraced the decision, at the initiative of Argentina, France, Japan and Lebanon, to recommend that the General Conference adopt a resolution on the importance of sound in today’s world to promote best practices.  

Following up on this decision, the Executive Board expressed hope that UNESCO might work towards an understanding of sound-related issues and encouraged Member States to foster mobilization of extrabudgetary contributions and technical guidance in order for the Secretariat to engage into related activities.

We encourage all interested parties to raise awareness on such an important matter and on the significance of introducing the public to a better understanding related to the quality of sound environments.
