Creative Cities Network Annual Meeting
2015 Annual Meeting of the Creative Cities Network
The IX Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) will take place in Kanazawa, Japan (designated UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art in 2009), from 25 to 28 May 2015.
Representatives of 69 cities from 32 different countries are invited to Kanazawa, 10 years after the launch of the Network, to:
- Review the initiatives undertaken to foster the role of creativity in sustainable urban development and build flagship partnerships for the future;
- Reflect on the development and strategic objectives of an enlarged and more geographically balanced Network;
- Address the criteria for the selection of host cities of Network Annual meetings as well as of periodic review of membership;
- Define the areas of work of the Network for the coming year.
Previous Creative Cities annual meetings have been held in Paris (UNESCO HQ, 2008), Santa Fe (2008), Lyon (2009), Shenzhen (2010), Seoul (2011), Montréal (2012), Bologna (2013) and Chengdu (2014). The 2016 Annual Meeting will be held in in Östersund, Sweden.

Created in 2004, the Network brings together 69 cities from 32 countries that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.
If your city is interest in joining this growing Network, you may access the documents below and find out what it takes and what it means to become a UNESCO Creative City.

As a result of the 2014 Call for applications, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, designated 28 cities, from 19 countries, as new members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

The four UK members of UNESCO Creatives cities Network - Bradford (Film), Glasgow (Music), Norwich (Literature) and Edinburgh (Literature) - welcomed their two fellow newcomers, Dundee (Design) and York (Media Arts) at a meeting on December 9th, to discuss activities related to the cities' designations, collaboration between their cities, as well as relations with UNESCO. Use of UNESCO logo by Creative Cities
The use of the Unesco Creative City logos is granted, upon request to Unesco, only to the Municipalities and the official departments and/or bodies of Cities that have been formally designated as Creative Cities (article 10 of the Nomination procedures).
The use of UNESCO logo is governed by the Directives concerning the use of the name, acronym, logo and Internet domain names of UNESCO, available online on UNESCO website.
