‘UNESCO Training Manual for the Protection and Management of Underwater Cultural Heritage in Latin America’ just published

The UNESCO Training Manual for the Protection and Management of Underwater Cultural Heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean has been published in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.

Adapted from the first edition published in 2012 on the Protection and Management of Underwater Cultural Heritage in Asia and the Pacific, it aims to support capacity building and public awareness for heritage professionals, national authorities and universities on the protection and management of underwater archaeological sites in Latin America and the Caribbean. This Training Manual will strengthen collective efforts to safeguard for present and future generations the region’s rich and vast array of submerged heritage.

The Training Manual is practical and user-friendly and uses examples and contents adapted to the region. It builds on the Foundations Courses that UNESCO developed to build capacities in underwater cultural heritage safeguarding and management.
