On 10 October 2010, the Netherlands Antilles officially ceased to exist. Curaçao and Sint Maarten have become two new constituent entities. Curaçao and Sint Maarten were unanimously admitted as Associate Members of UNESCO on 25 October 2011. The Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Netherlands requested in an email dated 27 September 2011 that the Associate Member should be referred to as Sint Maarten in all languages by the Language Units (translation). Although the title does not coincide with United Nations official terminology usage, this is official usage in UNESCO.
