On May 24, 2016 the first day of action on “Arts Education in Schools” took place in Austria. It was launched under the heading: “Culture Creates Diversity – Diversity Creates Culture”.

All over Austria about 370 school projects from all different artistic disciplines were developed in exchange with artists and arts institutions. Pupils and students then exhibited, performed and presented their work not only in schools but also in public spaces.

This year’s day of action was launched and carried out by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and Women (BMBF) in cooperation with partner organizations in Austria. It took place within the framework of the UNESCO International Arts Education Week and called attention to the importance and impact of arts education.
