Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO attending the 206th session of the Executive Board
From 10 to 12 April 2019, in the margins of the 206th session of the Executive Board, the traditional morning meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO took place at UNESCO Headquarters. Over 120 participants, representing 90 National Commissions/Permanent Delegations, attended the meeting.
Mr Kwangho Kim, Secretary-General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, was elected as Chair of the meeting.
Mr Firmin Edouard Matoko, Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations (ADG/PAX), opened the session and launched the 2018 Annual Report of National Commissions and the Online Platform. Mr Xing Qu, Deputy Director-General, made a presentation on the on-going process of Strategic Transformation of UNESCO, as well as the achievements made so far. Then, ADG/ED, ADG/SC, ADG/IOC, ADG/SHS, ADG/CLT, ADG/CI, and DIR/GE made their presentations on the proposed global priorities of the Organization.
The last session was dedicated particularly to the presentation of Network-oriented projects and initiatives by several National Commissions namely, the UK, France, Germany, the Republic of Korea, and Slovenia.
All of these presentations were followed by exchanges between the participants and the Secretariat.
