L'Oréal awards seven Brazilian Scientists in the 13th edition of the "For Women in Science" Prize

Women researchers from five Brazilian states received scholarships in the amount of around 12,5 thousand dollars each to continue their studies

This Thursday, 04 October, 2018, the new L’Oréal Brazil headquarters in Porto Maravilha hosted the 13th editon of the For Women in Science Prize, which is a programme developed by L´Oréal Brazil in partnsership with UNESCO in Brazil and the Brazilian Academy of Science (Academia Brasileira de Ciências - ABC). The programme has the objective to promote gender equality in the scientific environment. On the occasion, seven Young women researchers from diferente regions of Brazil were awarded with a scholarship in the amount of around $ 12,5 thousand dollars ($ 50 thousand reais)  each to continue their studies.

The ceremony master, journalist Renata Capucci, opened the event by presenting the judging commission and calling to the stage the president of L'Oréal Brazil, An Verhulst-Santos. In her speech, the executive stressed the importance of the award in promoting gender equality in the scientific environment. "Women represent only 30% of researchers worldwide. We do not want a society in which gender inequalities are reproduced, reinforced and perpetuated. Therefore, we are very proud to be able to give more visibility to Brazilian women in science," she said.
