To commemorate IDEI and the 10th anniversary of the UN Plan of Action, UNESCO is organizing a high-level multi-stakeholder conference will be held in Vienna, Austria on 3-4 November 2022, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Austria and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). On the one hand, the joint multi-stakeholder reflection process will take stock of the achievements and challenges of the last 10 years in the UN Plan of Action. On the other hand, the conference will lead to reinforced commitment to the implementation UN Plan of Action, with particular attention to emerging digital challenges to the safety of women journalists.

The High-Level conference in November is preceded by a multi-step consultative process with involves a series of regional and thematic consultations on lessons learnt, best practices, and emerging challenges in the implementation of the UN Plan. The outcome of these consultations will will inform a a concise set of actions and commitments that will guide and ultimately shape both the deliberations and outcome of the High-Level Conference.
