Partner with UNESCO

UNESCO's Vision

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. UNESCO has a unique role to play in strengthening the foundations of lasting peace and equitable and sustainable development. Advancing cooperation in education, the sciences, culture, communication and information holds strategic stakes at a time when societies across the world face the rising pressures of change and the international community faces new challenges.

UNESCO implements with its partners over 240 programmes in Asia and the Pacific to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Engage and Partner with UNESCO

UNESCO's Comprehensive Partnership Strategy is firmly anchored in the 2030 Agenda and at its heart lies SDG 17: Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

The SDGs can only be realized with strong global partnerships and cooperation. They are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

A successful development agenda requires inclusive partnerships — at the global, regional, national and local levels — built upon principles and values, and upon a shared vision and shared goals placing people and the planet at the centre.

Many countries require Official Development Assistance to encourage growth and trade. Yet, aid levels are falling and donor countries have not lived up to their pledge to ramp up development finance.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy is projected to contract sharply, by 3 per cent, in 2020, experiencing its worst recession since the Great Depression.

Strong international cooperation is needed now more than ever to ensure that countries have the means to recover from the pandemic, build back better and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

UNESCO Jakarta: Forging Partnerships and Networks

UNESCO works with a wide range of partners in all of its fields of competence by mobilizing high-level expertise in the region. Regional partnerships are a key enabler for meeting global challenges and generating sustainable change and long-lasting impact, and constitute a significant contribution to SDG 17. Partnerships are firmly embedded in UNESCO’s way of working at global, regional and national levels.

In close cooperation with governments, National Commissions and non-governmental partners, UNESCO Jakarta works on fulfilling UNESCO’s mandate to contribute to peace and security in the world by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science, culture and communication in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples of the world, without distinction of race, sex, language or religion, by the Charter of the United Nations.
