Launch in Brazil of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2021/2 - Non-state actors in education: Who chooses? Who loses?
The Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), like all other SDGs, breaks down into complex goals and actions. Therefore, the Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM Report) serves as one of the relevant tools to monitor activities, share good practices and support the development of educational policies based on solid data.
The GEM Report 2021/2 focuses on the role of non-state institutions in education, aiming to understand how valuable allies can the non-state actors be, considering how to regulate their participation so that they occur ethically and transparently. The report invites governments to recognize such institutions, using information, incentives and accountability as ways to harmonize their missions. Furthermore, the report calls for questioning the relationships between state and non-state actors to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education, leaving no one behind.
