Viborg (Denmark), a UNESCO Creative City of Media Aros, launched a global social media campaign #DrawwithDenmark and #DrawHope. Dedicated to children and youth affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign aims to share a message of hope and comfort to vulnerable children worldwide.

The social media campaign is part of “DANMARKS INDSAMLING (DI)” - THE UNITED DANISH APPEAL FOR FUNDS 2021” to raise funds nationwide to support the affected children and youth.

Viborg being the host city for the above-mentioned National Appeal of this year, launched the campaign to further broaden the outreach of the initiative. Based on a partnership between the Viborg Municipality, the city’s Art School and Visual High School, the initiative also aims to raise awareness on the impact of the COVID-19 while improving access to and participation in cultural life, notably for marginalized children.

Children and youth from UNESCO Creative Cities worldwide were invited to draw and share their messages of hope to renders support to the millions of affected children worldwide.

Over the past few months, the campaign witnessed widespread support.More than 3000 drawings from over33 countries including from the Creative Cities of Busan (Republic of Korea), Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Essaouira (Morocco), Llíria (Spain), Potsdam (Germany) and Rome (Italy), amongst others, were received.

With the objective to further highlight this global support, the city of Viborg in collaboration with the SMK – Denmark’s National Gallery of Art in Copenhagen, have being projecting a selection of over 500 drawings on the facades of the SMK – Denmark’s National Gallery of Art until 5 April 2021. To further promote the creativity of the young participants, several drawings have also been animated and compiled to produce short clips.
