Classical music illuminates Vranje over the month of May

Classical music illuminates Vranje over the month of May

When:
Wed, 05/04/2022 to Tue, 05/31/2022

From 4 to 31 May 2022, Vranje (the Republic of Serbia), a UNESCO Creative City of Music, will hold the 22nd edition of its traditional music festival “May the Month of Music”. Organized in collaboration with “Stevan Mokranjac” Music School, and with financial support from the City of Vranje and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the festival promises to be a rich and multifaceted culture experience for all.

This year, numerous artists have been selected, from various ensembles and orchestras, as well as soloists. The festival will be launched on 4 May with a concert featuring an accordionist and the “Amoroso” Chamber Orchestra. This year’s programme will also showcase musicians from the “Brass Quintet” and the “Novi Sad Chamber Ensemble”. In addition, a trio of chamber music students from the Faculty of Music of Novi Sad will give performances. Flute and piano connoisseurs will also have opportunities to enjoy various piano and flute concerts. The festival will culminate on 31 May with a joint student-teacher stage, celebrating Music School Day.

“May the Month of Music” gives classical music enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy their favorite instruments and ensembles, and for novices and amateurs the chance to explore the rich and diverse world of traditional classical music.

Vranje’s festival contributes to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network mission and objectives by highlighting the way culture can unite people from different realms, from music professionals, classical music lovers, aspiring students, to professors, thus enabling the transfer of knowledge, sharing of good practices and experiences between these different actors. These concerts also provide an opportunity for musicians from the Republic of Serbia and North Macedonia to collaborate and share their common passion for classical music.
