MEXT establishes Courses of Study (national curriculum standard) and implements related projects such as a study programme that fosters specialists in the field of advanced technical skills and traditional industries and a Japanese Dual system which offers practical business training together with general learnings at school and nationwide vocational fair. The National Center for Teachers' Development, which is an independent administrative organization under MEXT, and each school, educational institution or municipality offers various training programmes.
The Japanese National Commission for UNESCO is an organization attached to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) and functions as liaison office for inquiries about MEXT policies related to UNESCO activities implemented within Japan.
