Education for Health and Well-being

Guided by the organization’s global strategy on education for health and well-being, UNESCO supports national efforts to ensure that all learners thrive as a result of a whole-education approach to fostering the learning, health and well-being of all students and other members of the school community. UNESCO supports prioritization and investment by governments and partners in the health and well-being of learners to avert the learning crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides technical 12 and policy advice and coordinated programme support to safe school reopening and operations in the immediate and long-term recovery from the pandemic’s impacts. UNESCO Bangkok’s priorities are to work with Member States to ensure that all learners have access to safe, inclusive, gender-equitable, health-promoting learning environments where they benefit from high-quality health education that includes comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). This means working with national and regional education partners and stakeholders to address school violence and bullying, including gender-based and online bullying and violence; supporting teaching and learning that empowers young people to practice healthy and sustainable lifestyles and respectful relationships; and expanding young people’s access to essential services to safeguard their physical and mental health and psychosocial well-being.
