UNESCO-UNEVOC experts meeting on Skills for Innovation Hubs Initiative (i-hubs)
The i-hubs initiative is funded by the Chinese Government with in-kind resources from UNESCO-UNEVOC and ten pilot centres. It derives from major ongoing global disruptions in work and society and the increasing challenges that national TVET policy makers and systems’ developers face in providing the innovative skills needed to succeed in the uncertain labour market. In its preliminary phase the initiative will focus on Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Europe, specifically in the sectors of entrepreneurship, digitalization, and greening.

Skills for work, innovation and sustainable development
More than 300 participants from 80 countries met at together at the ‘Skills on the move: global trends, local resonances’ conference taking place in Tangshan, People’s Republic of China from 4 – 6 July 2017. The event discussed how to meet the demand for skills development and overcome economic and social inequalities through TVET.

The UNESCO-UNEVOC Skills for Innovation Hubs is part of the initiative 'Developing TVET institutions for entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability' implemented by UNESCO since 2017, and is supported by the Beijing Caofeidian International Vocational Education City (BCEC), with contributions from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
