Salvador Opens City of Music Museum

Salvador Opens City of Music Museum

When:
Wed, 09/22/2021

Salvador (Brazil), a Creative City of Music, is the birthplace of some of the world’s greatest artists from MPB, samba-reggae, rock, pagode, axé and other genres and rhythms. To honour its musical heritage and celebrate its designation as a Creative City of Music, last 22 September Salvador unveiled a new museum installed in an emblematic historic mansion, exhibiting over 800 hours of Bahia music related content.

With the entire museum collection presented via interactive audiovisual displays, visitors can explore the city’s rich musical culture through the medium of modern technology. The experience is further augmented by a virtual tour of Salvador’s hot spots linked with Bahia music accessible via visitors' own smartphone. The museum also houses research facilities, publicly accessible literature and media libraries, as well as a cultural center infrastructure area, providing Salvador’s residents with an invaluable cultural asset, which will benefit future generations of creative talent.
