World Heritage Awareness workshop for Tuvalu

10-11 March 2015
Tuvalu | INABA Tomoaki

Within the framework of the Japanese Funds-in-Trust project "Capacity Building to Support the Conservation of World Heritage Sites and Enhance Sustainable Development of Local Communities in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)" the World Heritage Centre and UNESCO Apia office will organize a national workshop on the World Heritage for government officials and community representatives, NGOs and civil society of Tuvalu, which will be held in Funafuti, Tuvalu on 10 and 11 March 2015.

Tuvalu is one of only 4 UNESCO Member States remaining that has not ratified the World Heritage Convention. The workshop aims at providing multi-stakeholder consultation on the safeguarding of the cultural and natural heritage in Tuvalu, and building capacity of the Tuvalu national authorities and various stakeholders in topics including the process and procedures of the 1972 World Heritage Convention.
