From 18 to 23 May 2021, Odessa (Ukraine), a UNESCO Creative City of Literature organized an international gastronomic week. The focus of the celebratory week was to highlight Odessa’s gastronomic assets while also sharing and integrating experiences with Creative Cities worldwide on enogastronomy tourism.
Recognizing the importance of gastronomic traditions in connecting different cultures, the event held several conferences that emphasized the connection between literature, history and gastronomy. These conferences also provided Creative Cities with a platform for sharing best practices and experiences in the field of wine production.
In line with the Network’s mission and objectives, the event involved a rich set of stakeholders, including representatives from national and local governments, leading wine experts, scientists, professionals, oenologists, national and foreign wine associations and journalists. Building on inter-city cooperation, two Creative Cities of Gastronomy - Bergamo from Italy and Florianopolis from Brazil - also participated in the events and shared some of their best practices and successful cases.
