Bradford provides opportunities for film students to gain experience in the industry
This year, Bradford, a UNESCO Creative City of Film, provided film students from the University of Bradford with another opportunity to gain key experience in the national and international film industry operating in the city.
Ran from February to October 2022 and supported by the Bradford Film Office, the project was aimed at fostering professional opportunities for students through connecting them with some of the most popular local film companies. The initiative supported young people in pursuing a professional path in the film sector, an industry that is thriving in Bradford thanks to the strong connection between the Municipality, the University and the film industry. The growing local film sector contributes to enhancing Bradford’s attractiveness to producers by facilitating technical procedures, as well as providing on-site expertise. Such synergies between the public and private sectors are boosting local creative industries and stimulating the development and distribution of relevant cultural outputs.
In addition, thanks to the city's strong ties with other UNESCO Creative Cities of Film, students gained access to global opportunities such as the Yamagata and Busan film festivals.
This project reaffirms Bradford's commitment to establishing the city as a centre of creativity and innovation through film and promoting opportunities for creators and young professionals in the cultural and creative sectors.
