Carrara reunites the Italian Creative Cities for the ‘Creativity Forum’
Carrara, a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art since 2017, will host the first edition of the ‘Creativity Forum’ with the Coordination of Italian Creative Cities’ support.
Under the theme “The artist and the craftsman, the engines of urban regeneration”, representatives of institutions and experts in different fields such as arts, crafts, architecture, economics and communication, will be reunited in Carrara from the 24 to 26 September to discuss urban regeneration with a special focus on the rebirth of historic centers after the pandemic.
The event will provide the opportunity for experts, appointed by each of the 11 Italian Creative Cities, to exchange and discuss around the valorization of cultural heritage, ensuring active adherence to the Sustainable Development Goals. On this occasion, Carrara will present the ‘Carrara Charter’ and ‘Declaration of Carrara’. These two institutional documents aim to provide a starting point for planning the cultural, social and economic regeneration of historic centres, while rethinking the role of craftsmen in this process.
The Forum, which aims to become a fixed appointment for the Italian Creative Cities, represents a prime example of cross-city collaboration at a national level, enhancing synergies between different clusters, in line with UCCN’s missions and objectives.
