"We protect imperishable cultural values"

23/09/2022

The Kyiv Classic Orchestra under the conduction of UNESCO Artist for Peace Herman Makarenko performed and recorded the world-famous masterpiece of musical culture – "The Four Seasons" by the Italian genius Antonio Vivaldi.

We have always appealed to the good and eternal values of humanity, which culture carries. It is a culture that unites people and helps them understand and respect each other. It is a culture that protects the Ukrainian people

Herman Makarenko, UNESCO Artist for Peace

The unique cultural event took place in St. Andrew's Church - one of the most beautiful places in Ukraine. St. Andrew's Church is part of « Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Related Monastic Buildings, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra » inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The event took place within the framework of the "Ukrainian violin - 1000 years" project. Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" is considered one of the most difficult works of musical art and a creative test for both the soloist-violinist and the string orchestra.

Since 2004, the Kyiv Classic Orchestra comprehensively supported the importance of the idea of peace in its creative performances and called for peace preservation in concerts at the UNESCO Headquarters and events dedicated to the 60th, 65th, and 70th anniversaries of the United Nations.

The orchestra was the first to appear on Independence Square with the "Concert for Peace" and a call to end the war in Ukraine on the 13th day of the war - March 9, 2022 (https://youtu.be/V1zyPXouzH0). This event was covered by 210 leading world media, including The Washington Post, BBC, Reuters, BILD, The Telegraph, Aljazeera or Le Parisien.
