Our Expertise
Equity and Inclusive Education
Central Asia faces issues of educational quality that lead to unequal opportunities and growing inequalities in societies, making UNESCO’s education programs essential. To achieve this implementation, UNESCO Almaty will support national education stakeholders to strengthen the quality and relevance of education and competency-based learning for all learners. This will be supported by UNESCO’s various donor-funded projects to advance educational policy and planning, digital education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), higher education, and education for sustainable development.
Protecting Heritage and Fostering Creativity
One of the priorities of UNESCO Almaty work in culture is to raise awareness about and build the capacities in the sustainable management of cultural and natural heritage of Central Asia. The fields of action are diverse, whether the projects focus on supporting countries at national and local levels, improving the conservation of World Heritage sites through heritage-based tourism development, diversifying tourism products and delivering high-quality visitor experiences.
Building knowledge societies
Knowledge and information have a significant impact on people’s lives. The sharing of knowledge and information, mainly through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), has the power to transform economies and societies.
