San Jose Forum: Experience the Heritage seeks to enhance culture for sustainable urban development in the capital city

During the forum, the UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape will be presented, and initiatives will be showcased with the aim of incorporating cultural heritage and creativity into the sustainable urban progress of San Jose.

The UNESCO joins the celebrations of San Jose's 200th anniversary as the capital and its designation as the 2023 Ibero-American Capital of Culture with the "San Jose Lives Heritage" forum: promoting culture for sustainable urban development. This event seeks to promote cultural heritage and creativity as key elements in the sustainable development of the city.

During the forum, the UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape will be presented, and proposals from the public and private sectors will be showcased to incorporate cultural heritage and creativity into the sustainable urban development of San Jose.

The event will be attended by the UNESCO Representative for Costa Rica, Alexander Leicht, the Minister of Housing and Human Settlements, Jessica Martinez Porras, and the Deputy Minister of Culture, Vera Vargas Leon.

Also in attendance will be the Vice Mayor of San Jose, Paula Vargas, the representative of the Urban Regeneration initiative, Giovanni Graziano, and representatives from the Municipality of San Jose and the citizen initiative for Urban Regeneration.

The event will take place on March 17, 2023, from 9:30 a.m, at the Balmoral Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica. Registration is necessary due to limited capacity. There will also be a live broadcast on Facebook Live at @UNESCOsanjose so more people can participate.
