Managing change through transformative TVET leadership
Since 2016, UNESCO-UNEVOC has trained and supported over 650 TVET leaders, managers, and staff from more than 95 countries through the global, regional, national, and online editions of the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme. Would you like to participate in this unique programme? Applications are now open! Please find the link to the application form at the bottom of the page.
As a result, businesses, communities and societies must now accelerate their climate mitigation and adaptation response. To facilitate these processes, the worlds of work, education, and training are all expected to transform. Now is the time to change mindsets and promote green skilling and education before it is too late.
Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) also faces a new wave of expectations and challenges to help accelerate climate learning and the acquisition of green skills. More than ever, there is a need to implement green practices and support the creation of green jobs. Implementing education for sustainable development in TVET can enable institutional transformation. This relies on built capacities to teach, learn and engage in sustainability actions that help decarbonize the economy, adapt current practices and find new solutions to reduce the environmental impact of our daily activities.
Against this backdrop, this year's edition of the TVET Leadership Programme will focus on education for sustainability and the green transition. It seeks to address the knowledge gap on system-level change by raising awareness and developing capacities that will empower TVET professionals to support the green transition in their institutions.
This edition's programme will take place online from November 2022 to February 2023.
The programme is divided into two learning blocks. Each learning block consists of two modules that aim to support the transformation of institutions into effective spaces for learning about sustainability and climate responsibility.
Learning Block 1 (2 modules):
Learning Block 2 (2 modules):
Module 1 | The implementation for a green transition |
Module 2 | Changing the institution’s DNA |
Module 3 | Learning from methods and practice |
Module 4 | Managing institutional change |
Participants are expected to attend all live webinars. The duration of each webinar is approximately 150mins. Participants will need to spend about 4-5 hours per week reviewing the modules’ content and other requirements. Participants are also expected to produce outputs at the end of module 2, and a final project at the end of the last module.
The programme targets mid-to senior-level TVET managers, leaders and professionals from UNEVOC Centres and other TVET institutions. Candidates should be in a position to formulate strategies and policies, as well as lead change and decision-making processes. Their participation is intended to effectively inform their current level of responsibilities and priorities, adapt their skills development approaches and orient their actions for the green transition.
The four live webinars are organized to cater for different time zones: 9:30-11:30 and 15:00-17:00 UTC/GMT +1 (Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome time). Therefore, each webinar will be held two times on the same day. Upon selection into the course, you will be enrolled in one of the two batches, where you will remain for the entire programme duration. Please note that the live webinar content will be the same across the two batches. As a result, you only need to attend 1 live webinar per module. Please ensure that you are available on the dates provided below.
Date | Batch 1 | Batch 2 | |
Webinar 1 | 30 Nov 2022 | 9:00-11:30 (UTC/GMT +1) | 15:00-17:30 (UTC/GMT +1) |
Webinar 2 | 07 Dec 2022 | 9:00-11:30 (UTC/GMT +1) | 15:00-17:30 (UTC/GMT +1) |
