Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2023

Global Media and Information Literacy Week (24-31 October)

Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2023

Theme: “Media and Information Literacy in Digital Spaces: A collective global agenda".

The Internet has altered our societies as profoundly as the printing press did, requiring a deep reimagining of the ethics and mindsets with which we approach knowledge, communication and cohesion,” Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr António Guterres.

Attaining media and information literacy in digital spaces cannot be reached without multilateral and multi-stakeholder cooperation. To facilitate a unified strategy, and as a central outcome of Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2023, UNESCO is developing  an international multi-stakeholder action-plan for digital platforms, media, and other actors to promote media and information literacy in their policies, operation and products. This will serve to connect actions of various stakeholders. The global community is then solicited to develop new initiatives and reinforce existing ones to advance media and information literacy in digital spaces. The Feature Conference and Youth Forum Agenda for the Week is hosted by Jordan.
