Goodwill Ambassadors for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

23/03/2023

UNESCO hosted a global edition of its Master Class Series against Racism and Discrimination on March 21, 2023, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The event provided a remarkable opportunity for young people to become antiracism advocates and create a positive change in their schools and communities. Graduates of the series from across the globe have initiated their local projects and motivated their peers to engage in this essential cause. This year's edition witnessed a great turnout, with approximately 700 students present in person and an additional 700 participating online.

UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors played a significant role in raising awareness about the fight against racism and discrimination. Some of them, such as Rossy de Palma and Xueli Abbing, participated in person in the Master Class against Racism organized at UNESCO headquarters, while others, such as Barthélémy Toguo, joined the cause online. Their presence and commitment were crucial in encouraging action towards creating a more inclusive and egalitarian world.

Barthélemy Toguo harnesses the power of art to probe global dysfunction and critique injustice. His mission is to highlight the struggle for human rights through his artistic expression. With a provocative tone, he questions humanity and addresses themes such as the status of foreigners, migrants, immigrants and the difficulties of constructing their identity.

On this International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, let's be inspired by his fight and say #NonAuRacism: https://on.unesco.org/3JABz9t
