Context/Overview:
This project seeks to support the development in The Seychelles of the status of the artist and cultural professionals. In particular, the project seeks to:
- Provide technical advice to the Seychelles Institute for Culture Heritage and the Arts in the development of a participatory process for the initiation of consultations and policy dialogues regarding the status of the artist in the country
- Based on the results of the consultative process, draft a baseline study on the status of the artist in Seychelles, including a gap analysis in terms of legislation regarding the socio-economic protection of artists, and provide recommendations for the design or reform of regulatory texts relating to the protection of artists and cultural professionals
- Provide support in the drafting of the status of the artist for the Republic of Seychelles
- Provide capacity-building to the National Society of Authors, Performers and Composers (SACS) and advise the SACS in embracing current opportunities, acquiring good legal reflexes and establishing an efficient and functional collective management model for copyright and related rights.
