2. Justification of pre-selection
What are the main reasons for having pre-selected this project proposal, as compared to other proposals received by the National Commission for UNESCO?: 
The Project Proposal is clear and the activities are addressing the problems the cultural industries face especially women and girls. The layout of the project is in line the application form where it has demonstrated its relevance, feasibility, sustainability, efficacy, appropriate finance management and accounting. In addition, it is also conforming to the 2005 Convention. It has a long-term impact to improved quality of local cultural industries and beneficiaries while contributing to the outcomes of IFCD.
3. The applicant institution/organization
What elements demonstrate that the applicant institution/organization is a significant stakeholder in the culture sector (locally / nationally / internationally)?: 
The institution is registered and fully recognised by the Malawi government as an organiser of art festivals. It was established to conduct research and provide arts and cultural developmental solutions in Malawi and beyond the boarders. It also organizes arts and cultural festivals in Malawi which accommodate various arts disciplines hence local artists lacked higher knowledge, artistic skills and professionalism for international exposure and artwork market.
4. Relevance of the pre-selected project proposal
4.1. What are the main current needs and priorities in your country in terms of cultural policies and/or cultural industries?: 
o Capacity building of the industry practitioners o Addressing gender gaps in the promotion of culture
4.2. How do the objectives of this pre-selected project proposal meet the current needs and priorities of the country in terms of cultural policies and/or cultural industries?: 
o The project is offering trainings to women and girls in order to build the capacities of the female industry practitioners o Incorporating women and girls in the project as direct beneficiaries to address the gender gaps.
4.3. To what extent do you expect this pre-selected project proposal to have an impact on the country’s cultural policies and/or cultural industries?: 
o It will reduce gender inequalities in the cultural industries and promote national-wide participation in cultural programs for national unity and social-cultural awareness as outlined in the National Culture Policy. The skills that the women and girls will receive from this project will help them improve the qualities of their products, enabling them to get better remunerations, thus socio-economic development. The festivals, which this project will utilise to promote the products of this project will also help the beneficiaries to network with other artists from other parts of the world.
