UNESCO and African Union call on leaders to prioritize equal opportunity in education

African Union was officially launched on the 18th Feb.2023 on the margins of the AU Summit of Heads of States & Governments.

H.E President Madaa Bio, Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E Sahle-Work Zewde, President  Federal Republic of Ethiopia , representative of H.E  President Ruto, Republic of Kenya, H.E Prof. Belhocine, Commissioner ESTI, AUC and Ms Audrey Azoulay (video) made opening remarks. Session was moderated by Hon. David Sengeh, Minister of Education, Sierra Leone. The report was presented by Mr Firmin Matoko, ADG PAX.

We are very relieved that our office, UNESCO Addis was able to secure a side event during the Summit. Only half of the 53 side events proposed were accepted.
