ERCE Schools is a diagnostic evaluation that will serve as a tool for both application and internal use in schools. Its main purpose is to provide teachers with specific and immediate information on the learning progress of each student.

Representatives from six countries in the region – Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic – met on April 14, 2023, at the Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) to discuss the scope of the pilot of the diagnostic evaluation ERCE Schools, an initiative coordinated by the Latin American Laboratory for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education (LLECE).

The working day included the contributions of evaluation specialists who discussed and agreed on criteria related to the cut-off scores for the performance levels of this study.

ERCE Schools will be a contribution of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to pedagogical work. Its application is voluntary and aims to provide teachers with specific and immediate information on the learning progress of each student, enabling them to make pertinent decisions that will positively impact their educational process.

During the work session, the pilot study results were analyzed, and the cut-off scores for the performance levels were constructed. This information will be useful for pedagogical action.
