About UNESCO Geneva

The UNESCO Liaison Office in Geneva develops and maintains cooperation with Swiss-based institutions, starting with the Swiss National Commission for UNESCO, universities (UNIGE, The Graduate Institute, EPFL, etc.), as well as civil society organisations (NGOs and philanthropic organisations).

Its main tasks are, among others, to represent UNESCO at various UN intergovernmental and inter-agency meetings, as well as at numerous and diverse cooperation platforms in Geneva; advocate UNESCO's mandate, priorities and strategic orientations of its programmes and act as a clearing house for information of interest to UNESCO; develop new partnerships with UN entities, donors, the private sector and civil society. The Office focuses on issues related to human rights, migrant and refugee education, peace, science and technology for development, post-conflict and post-disaster reconstruction, climate change, cultural heritage and the information society, among others.
