Jury

The members of the jury of the Prize were appointed in July 2015 by the UNESCO Director-General for a six-year term (2015-2020).

Seteney Shami

  • Jordanian anthropologist, Ms Shami is the current Director of the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS). Her research interests center on issues of ethnicity and nationalism in the context of globalization, urban politics and state‐building strategies, and population displacement and trans‐national mobility.

Souleymane Bachir Diagne

  • Senegalese philosopher and former professor at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal, Mr Bachir Diagne is currently Professor of French and Philosophy at Columbia University, in New York. His current teaching and research interests include the history of early modern philosophy, philosophy, and Sufism in the Islamic world, African philosophy and literature, and twentieth-century French philosophy.

Liqun Liu

  • President of China Women’s University and Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Media and Gender, Ms Liu has written extensively on the role of women in Chinese society. Her primary areas of academic interests are international communication, media and gender, and radio and television studies in western countries.
