Eventos y reuniones sobre el patrimonio cultural inmaterial organizadas o coorganizadas por la UNESCO

Un ejercicio en línea de fortalecimiento de capacidades dirigido a los actores involucrados en la preparación de nominaciones en los Pequeños Estados Insulares en Desarrollo (PEID) del Caribe se lleva a cabo del 11 al 25 de septiembre de 2023.

90 expertos de 20 países, incluyendo responsables culturales, funcionarios públicos, consultores, académicos, organizaciones no gubernamentales y comunidades portadoras, se reúnen en 5 sesiones de formación para mejorar sus habilidades en la elaboración de expedientes de nominación para las Listas de la Convención. A lo largo de las sesiones, también se promueve la cooperación Sur-Sur y el intercambio de conocimientos entre los PEID de la región.

Esta formación forma parte de un proyecto de fortalecimiento de capacidades que busca equipar mejor a los actores comprometidos en la salvaguardia para preparar expedientes que respondan exitosamente a los criterios del sistema de evaluación de la Convención de 2003, resultando así en la salvaguardia efectiva del patrimonio vivo en la región y contribuyendo a un mayor equilibrio geográfico de los elementos inscritos en las Listas. The UNESCO Living Heritage Entity is looking for a team of experts/evaluators to carry out a renewal evaluation of the International Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), a UNESCO Category 2 Centre based in Osaka, Japan.

Proposals should reach UNESCO (ICH-capacity@unesco.org) no later than 17 September 2023 (midnight, Paris time).

Context

Category 2 institutes and centres under the auspices of UNESCO are a global network of institutions of excellence in the Organization’s domains of competence. Given their expertise, these institutes and centres contribute to the implementation of UNESCO’s priorities, programmes, and global development agendas during a defined period. They foster international and regional cooperation, research, knowledge production, policy advice, and capacity enhancement. Though independent of UNESCO, category 2 institutes and centres are a privileged partner of the Organization with access to international and intergovernmental bodies and networks, and may leverage UNESCO’s international reach and convening powers. Category 2 institutes and centres under the auspices of UNESCO are an integral part of the Organization’s Comprehensive Partnership Strategy.

The UNESCO Strategy for Category 2 Institutes and Centres under the auspices of UNESCO1 provides that an agreement for the establishment of a category 2 institute or centre is for a defined time period, not exceeding eight years. The agreement may be renewed by the Director-General, with the approval of the Executive Board, in light of an evaluation of the activities of the institute/centre and of its contribution to the strategic programme objectives of the Organization and the aforementioned Strategy.

Del 25 al 26 de julio de 2023, la República de Corea acogerá una Reunión Global con motivo del 20º aniversario de la Convención de 2003. Bajo el lema “Liberar el potencial del patrimonio vivo para el desarrollo sostenible y la paz”, la reunión de Seúl celebrará los logros de veinte años de implementación de la Convención y esbozará una visión para su futura dirección. Cuatro paneles temáticos explorarán el patrimonio vivo en relación con (1) los medios de vida sostenibles, (2) el mundo natural, (3) la educación de calidad y (4) el entorno digital. Destacados intelectuales internacionales, responsables políticos, la sociedad civil, expertos y comunidades participarán en esta discusión visionaria, que será retransmitida en directo para el público.

El evento está organizado por el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de la República de Corea (MAEC) y la Administración del Patrimonio Cultural de Corea (CHA) en colaboración con la UNESCO, el Centro Internacional de Información y Redes sobre el Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial para la Región de Asia y el Pacífico auspiciado por la UNESCO (ICHCAP) y la Fundación Coreana del Patrimonio Cultural.

The meeting organized from 21 to 23 June 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia by UNESCO, through its Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe and the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe in Sofia, Bulgaria, is generously hosted by the Ministry of Culture of Serbia.

Following up on the previous edition, this year’s session will continue exploring the nexus between intangible cultural heritage and education, with a special focus on secondary/professional/technical and vocational training - TVET and tertiary education across the South-East Europe region.

The meeting is aimed at the 2003 Convention’s Focal Points (or other appointed representatives) from Member States under the purview of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, namely, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Türkiye. In addition, representatives from Austria and Italy will join as observers.

In the year of the 20th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the meeting will also offer the opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved so far and the priorities that lie ahead.
