African governments acknowledge that for the continent to attain its socio-economic potential, it would require holistic approach to using science, engineering, technology and innovation to drive transformational change and value addition to its huge natural resources and demographic dividends of youth. Today, the transition to a green economy, the implementation of digital technologies in the world of work and the emergence of new forms of entrepreneurship are not only changing the profile of jobs but also creating new possibilities for solutions to social and economic problems in the form of innovation. This activity aims at strengthening institutional and human capacities in basic science, research and engineering to drive sustainable development in Eastern Africa.
