N° du projet 2210313051

Assessment of tsunami hazard and risk is required to support preparedness measures and effective disaster reduction. Results of Tsunami Hazard assessments translate into coastal inundation maps using a combination of numerical models assuming possible tsunami scenarios. At local scale such maps can be used to guide local tsunami response planning, to enhance the residents' tsunami disaster awareness and response during an event. Support under this element focus on enhancing capacity in coastal hazard assessment in a multi-hazard framework. Within the context of the UN Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development, an additional effort will be done on atypical events, not directly caused by earthquake sources (i.e. submarine landslides and volcano).
