The primary and long-term goal of UNESCO New Delhi is to encourage, on the one hand, the government of India to develop a sustainable cultural policy and adopt UNESCO 2005 Convention Monitoring Framework Mechanism to grasp and analyse its creative sector, and on the other hand, the government of Sri Lanka to ratify the 2005 Convention. In addition, UNESCO New Delhi Culture has been actively advocating the 1980 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Artists during the biennium 2020-2021 and will continue to do so during the biennium of 41C/5.
