UNESCO through the Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific Jakarta office plays an active role to support the member states by empowering their youth and young professionals to contribute to disaster risk reduction (DRR) using science, engineering, technology, and innovation (SETI). UNESCO Office Jakarta implemented a programme namely Youth and Young Professionals in SETI for DRR. The objectives of this programme are to: a) Facilitate, advocate, and support cooperation and collaboration among youth and young professionals in the country as well as in the region; b) Empower and mobilize youth, young scientists, and young professionals at national and regional level to strengthen their SETI and to use their SETI capacity, capabilities, and knowhow to support DRR.
