Since the ratification of the UNESCO 2003 Convention, East Asian countries have been active in its effective implementation at the national level and have substantially increased their human and institutional capacities through technical support and capacity-building provided by past UNESCO interventions. Building on the enhanced capacities, the cluster countries, with a focus on Mongolia, will be supported in integrating intangible cultural heritage into their plans, policies and programmes, in particular as contribution towards the achievement of SDGs. Focus areas will be the incorporation of ICH in formal and non-formal education in Mongolia complement national safeguarding efforts.
