The UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa will support the nine Southern African countries covered by the Regional Office, namely Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, in implementing the 1972 World Heritage Convention and the 2011 Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape in order to promote the identification, protection and management of cultural and natural heritage for sustainable development and lasting peace in the region.
