With the challenges posed by modernization, globalization, urbanization and the COVID-19 crisis, there is a need to strengthen efforts to protect the cultural and natural heritage of East Asia. Through capacity-building, member states will be supported in their endeavors to operationalize the provisions of the UNESCO 1972 Convention at the national and local levels, in order to improve the conservation and sustainable management of World Heritage sites. Within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Convention, events, campaigns, and initiatives in East Asian countries, to provide a platform for conversation and enhance the understanding of OUV of World Heritage Sites will continue to sensitize young people, foster youth engagement, and promote heritage values.
