The Special Account aims to finance the "Culture and Urban Development" initiative, which encompasses the activities related to the culture's contribution to sustainable urban development, in line with the Post-2015 Development Agenda, and in view of the Habitat-III Conference (October 2016,Quito, Ecuador). The initiative will notably allow to launch the elaboration of a first UNESCO Global Report on Culture and Sustainable Urban Development, which will consolidate strategic analyses and recommendations based on data collected from partner institutions from all regions and the implementation of the UNESCO Culture Conventions on cultural heritage and the cultural and creative industries.
