Project ID 700CMB4000

The Angkor World Heritage Site itself is vulnerable to disasters, particularly seasonal heavy rains and flooding exacerbated by climate change and urban development. Recent incidents of significant floods include 2009, 2010, and 2011 and heavy floods of 2013. Despite these risks, a Disaster Risk Management Plan for Angkor is yet to be created. Key reasons include a lack of strategic vision for disaster preparedness and the limited capacity and access to resources to develop such a plan. The project objective is to strengthen disaster and other risk management at Angkor, while focusing on scoping future work that will be needed for the Government to develop such a plan for the country.
