The project seeks to enhance protection and research of submerged cultural heritage in Mozambique Island. Its main objective is to transform the current underwater archaeology centre CAIRIM into a national Center of Excellence in Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection and Research. A long-term objective is to create with this an African Regional Centre of Excellence and UNESCO Category 2 Centre.
